The BMR multiplier
Total daily energy expenditure is modeled as BMR multiplied by an activity factor. The displayed 1,699 kcal/day BMR times 1.55 equals 2,633.45 kcal/day. The multiplication is transparent, but the activity factor summarizes many behaviours that do not remain constant from day to day.
Activity is more than exercise
Commuting, standing, caregiving, exercise sessions, job demands, and spontaneous movement are all folded into one number. A person who trains hard twice a week may still be sedentary for the rest of the week. Choosing a factor is therefore a scenario choice, not a classification supplied by a wearable or this page.
Look at a longer interval
Daily expenditure changes with training, sleep, travel, illness, weather, and work schedule. If the purpose is meal planning, compare a few weeks of intake and body-weight trend rather than treating one calculated day as maintenance established by fact.
What this model omits
The result does not account for a medical condition, medication effect, pregnancy, breastfeeding, recovery from illness, or an eating disorder. Those situations need individual clinical advice. It also does not convert a calorie number into a complete diet, hydration plan, or training programme.
Compare plausible activity cases
Try a lower and higher activity value and record the resulting daily range. A 1.35 factor would give about 2,294 kcal/day for the same BMR, showing why the multiplier deserves more scrutiny than a decimal-place result.
Check the arithmetic in context
Consider a week with two long training days and five desk days. One fixed multiplier averages that uneven pattern into a single daily value, which can be convenient but can also hide large day-to-day differences. A weekly food and activity record can make a separate training-day and rest-day plan easier to discuss. The arithmetic here cannot tell whether an apparent calorie gap came from movement, intake reporting, or ordinary short-term weight variation. A logged week is more informative than one activity label.
A TDEE estimate is most useful when it states the BMR source and the factor used. Without both, another person cannot reproduce it or tell why it changed. Wearable calorie displays may use different models, so their number should not be averaged with this one without understanding their assumptions.
